Nosara Costa Rica is not a place that makes an excellent first impression. Nosara Costa Rica isn’t like other beaches in Costa Rica. There aren’t many shops, restaurants, hotels and surf schools within a few blocks. You never feel like you’ve arrived at this beach town when you drive down the narrow, bumpy dirt road to Playa Guiones. After getting lost and finding a few dead ends roads, we eventually found our way to Downtown Guiones. This 500m road leads to Guiones Playa Nosara Costa Rica (also known as Playa Nosara in Costa Rica).
Nosara was filled with 90% of its guests when we booked our hotel stay. Yet, walking down Downtown Guiones felt like we were alone. The souvenir shops were overpriced and air-conditioned but hidden behind closed doors. There was no indication that any activity was taking place. We don’t usually enjoy crowds, but we couldn’t help but wonder where everyone was. Perhaps they were all surfing Nosara, Costa Rica. We didn’t know.
Nosara offers a tranquil landscape of coves and serene rivers, and vast tropical forests. It is the perfect place to recharge and escape. You have arrived in Nosara in Costa Rica. It is surrounded by lush, undeveloped forests, national parks rich in oxygen, and the most transparent ocean water in Costa Rica. Although Nosara has seen a lot of popularity in the last ten years, its charm is still small-town with an air of tranquillity and isolation. It also offers plenty of activities for eager tourists. Nosara is also known for being one of five original blue zones, which are places where people live longer, healthier lives.

It also has some of the most friendly people on the planet. In the past two years, I have spent many months in Nosara. Although this doesn’t grant me ex-pat status, it does give me some insight into the best things to do and places to visit in Nosara. Because I was there so long, I met some locals who showed me the best, non-touristy things in Nosara. These things are mine to share with you.
